The 10 Best Board Game Cafes in Portland (2026)
This list ranks the best board game cafes and game stores around Portland using a Google-review-based methodology updated for 2026. We calculate a Bayesian-style score that weighs average star ratings by review count so places with many positive reviews rise above one-off five-star listings. The result highlights spots across Portland and nearby suburbs where gamers, hobby shoppers, and casual visitors converge. Expect a mix of dedicated game stores, cafés, and bar-style venues; these entries reflect what customers report on Google rather than editorial visits or price comparisons.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose a board game cafe?
Look at a venue’s game library size, hours, seating and whether they charge a table fee or minimum. Read recent reviews for notes on crowding, cleanliness, and staff helpfulness, and pick a place whose vibe and policies match the group you’ll bring.
What does visiting a board game cafe typically cost?
Pricing models vary: some places charge an hourly or per-session table fee, others expect food or drink purchases, and some operate as retail game stores with free play. Check the venue’s Google listing or website for current policies so you’re not surprised at the door.
What should I check before booking a private event or hiring space?
Confirm capacity, available time slots, any minimum purchase or rental fees, and whether the venue provides tables, chairs, or access to its game library. Also ask about food and drink policies and cancellation terms so your group’s needs are covered.
